privacy policy

Last Updated: July 6, 2026

Karl Hofmann ("we," "our," or "us") operates the timebar mobile and desktop application (the "App") for Apple macOS and iOS.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with your use of the App. Because we believe in data minimization, timebar does not collect, track, or store any of your personal data on external servers.

1. Data Controller and Contact

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or our practices, please contact us at:

  • Developer: Karl Hofmann
  • Email: hoi@schoene-abig.ch

2. Information We Process and How We Use It

A. Local Data Storage

All data you enter into timebar (such as your Kimai server credentials, API keys, time tracking entries, projects, and activities) is stored locally on your device or within your private Apple iCloud environment (if enabled by you). We have no access to this data.

B. Device Permissions

To function properly, the App may request access to certain system features:

  • Notifications / Activities: The App requests permission to send you local push notifications or update system activities (e.g., Live Activities or menu bar states) to keep you informed about your running timers. No personal data is transmitted externally for this purpose.

C. Synchronization & Notification Relay (Cloudflare Worker)

If you actively enable the Synchronization service within the App, the App utilizes a temporary relay service hosted on a Cloudflare Worker to coordinate notifications and states between your devices.

  • IP Addresses: When using this sync service, your device's IP address and a secure, non-identifiable key-string are processed by the Cloudflare Worker solely to route the relay message to your other devices.
  • Data Retention: This data is strictly processed in real-time to facilitate the sync/notification delivery and is not permanently stored or logged by us.

D. Crash Logs and Technical Data

In the event of an unexpected App crash, Apple may collect diagnostic information (Crash Logs) and provide them to us anonymously through App Store Connect. This data does not contain any personally identifiable information and is used exclusively to fix bugs and improve the App's stability.

3. Third-Party Services, Analytics, and Advertising

We value your privacy and aim for complete transparency:

  • No Analytics: We do not use any third-party tracking or analytics tools (such as Google Analytics or Firebase).
  • No Advertisements: The App does not display any advertisements, and no advertising identifiers are collected.
  • No Third-Party In-App Purchases: The App does not use external payment processing software that tracks user behavior.
  • No External APIs: We do not forward your data to any other third-party services.

4. Data Retention and Account Deletion

Since we do not collect or store your personal data or maintain user accounts on our own servers, there is no data for us to delete. If you wish to delete all data associated with timebar, you can simply delete the App from your device and clear its data from your local storage and personal iCloud settings.

5. Legal Basis (GDPR / CCPA Compliance)

As we do not collect personal data, our processing activities are limited to the technical necessity of providing the App's functionalities (such as the optional Cloudflare Sync Relay based on your explicit activation/consent).

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top.
